It's Christmas Time

Ash over at Hetta Hoo and Ms. Ashes over at Just the Ashes posted two different but similar Christmas surveys and I thought I would join in on the fun.

If you want to join in just copy this entire post. Change all the answers so that they apply to you. Then post this on your blog.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? I go with both. I love wrapping gifts but I also like using gift bags.

2. Real tree or Artificial? Artificial. It's just easier and it comes with the lights already on and real trees both the Mister's sinuses.

3. When do you put up the tree? The weekend after Thanksgiving.

4. When do you take the tree down? New Year's Day or sometime right around then.

5. Favorite gift received as a child? Probably would be the American Girl doll - Samantha.

6. Hardest person to buy for? My brother and brother in law.

7. Easiest person to buy for? The Mister

8. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes, two of them.

9. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail - but we didn't do Christmas cards this year :(

10. Worst Christmas ever? I don't recall having a bad Christmas

11. Favorite Christmas Movie(s)? The Christmas Story and Rudolph

12. When do you start shopping for Christmas? I usually wait to the last minute, this year I was actually done at the beginning of December.

13. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? No.

14 .Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? All the goodies! I'm not sure of the name but my grandpa makes these Oyster Crackers with seasoning on them...yum and my mom usually makes Almond Bark covered Pretzels.

15. Favorite Christmas song? Silver Bells, White Christmas and many more!

16. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Right now we have been switching from traveling to staying home every other year.

17. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? No, I tried and missed two.

18. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Growing up we would open presents Christmas Eve after we got home from Christmas Eve church service. We don't really have a tradition yet, but usually the Mister can't wait until Christmas day :)

19. Favorite ornament theme or color? No theme, the Mister and I each have ornaments from when we were little. We also having been buying an ornament a year since we got married and then we just have other random ones we have bought.

20. What do you want for Christmas this year? There really isn't anything I want. The Mister and I decided not to do gifts this year for each other and we will use the money to get things for Logan.

21. Egg nog or hot chocolate: Hot Chocolate with a candy cane and marshmallows! I don't like Egg nog.

22. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? The presents are always wrapped except for the things in the stockings.

23. Colored lights on tree/house or white? White on the tree. If we hung lights outside I might do colored if I could make it not look too tacky :)

24. Do you hang mistletoe? Yes!

25. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I have no idea when I stopped believing in Santa.

26. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Usually all of them :) Santa only left the stocking items and the gifts were from my parents. The Mister and I haven't started a tradition yet.

27. Snow. Love it or dread it? It doesn't really snow here but I loved it growing up, now not so much b/c it could affect our travel plans this year :(

28. Can you ice skate? I have only been ice skating once and that was in New York but I did pretty well for a first timer.

29. What tops your tree? A star, can't really describe what it looks like though - it is made out of red berries and sticks - kind of. I love it!

30. Candy canes: Yuck or yum? Yum!

If you play, please leave me the link so I can read your answers.

It's the Final Countdown...

Okay so I still have 12 weeks to go...but I am now in the 3rd Trimester and only 80 days to go!! I can't even believe how fast this pregnancy has flown by. It seems like it was just the other day that the Mister and I were unexpectedly looking at a positive on the pregnancy.test. I am getting more nervous but also more excited every day. I think Logan is already trying to escape, at least it feels like that some days. I am just waiting for the day his little foot pops out of my belly button.

I had my 28week Dr.'s appt on Tuesday. Logan is still head down...YAY! (this is why I know it his little foot that is kicking me right in the middle of my stomach) The Mister was able to come to this appointment also, this was only the second appointment he has been able to make. So he got to see the little guy and his heartbeat. The Dr also said I am measuring right on with 28weeks so that is good to know. Other than that it was another short and sweet visit.

So I believe it was my last post that I promised a picture of the rocker and the cradle so here there are along with a new belly pic. The color isn't very good in the pictures...sorry, but you get the jist.

Randomness

First I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!!

Since I haven't posted in, oh.I don't know.forever, I thought I would do a quick updated of randomness.

1. I finished my Kindergarten placement last week and it was so sad to leave those kids. I really just loved everything about that experience. And for my last day my class threw me a surprise baby shower! The kids had all gotten me something. It was so sweet!

2. I am almost done with the semester!!!!! Unfortunately this means that I also have about 4 projects that I have to complete. 3 of which are due on Monday! Procrastinate much?

3. I am 26weeks right now and only one more week before I am in the 3rd Trimester!

4. Yesterday I did something I was sure I would not do during this pregnancy. I had a freak out and called the Dr, which lead to me having to go and be checked. The short version is me thinking I was leaking amniotic fluid when in actuality I just need to empty my bladder more often. No this does not mean that I wet my pants, but my dear husband would tell you otherwise. Thankfully Logan and I are both just fine.

5. We have also ordered the rocker for the nursery. This is our Christmas gift from my parents and I am so excited about getting it and have it set up in the nursery!

6. My grandparents also sent us the cradle we are going to use. It's the same cradle I used when I was a baby.

(I post pictures of both the cradle and the rocker on another post once we receive the rocker)

7. For Thanksgiving we will be spending the morning with some of the Mister's family and then driving down to Auburn to spend the rest of the day with some more of his family. We will stay in Auburn and tailgate for the Auburn v. Alabama game and then we will head home to watch the game here. The rest of the weekend will be spent finishing these projects.

The Mister and I have so much to be thankful for this year and I hope you all have lots to be thankful for too.

One More Appointment Done

Unfortunately this post will have no pictures of my beautiful boy. Although I did get to see him and his wonderful, little heartbeat, the Dr. had other things on his mind (like the woman who was in labor at 34 weeks) and did not print out a picture. That's okay though, I was just glad to get a glimpse of my little man.

My appointment went pretty well...as well as it can go when I have to give blood. I had the glucose test to do and I must say I thought the fruit punch (the flavor I had) actually was really not that bad especially if you like kool-aid. For those of you who don't know...I had to drink this in 5 mins and then an hour later they take your blood to see how you react to the sugar. If you fail it means that you could have gestational diabetes. If you fail the first test then you have to do a 3 hour sugar test. I was really hoping to pass with flying colors and not being a big sweets eater I thought I would. I found out when I got there it was only going to be a finger prick...this was even better! However with the blood from the finger prick I failed the test. Normal is 135 or lower and I was at 145. The nurse then said well we can take some blood from your arm because it is usually lower, ugh this is not what I wanted to hear. I am glad they did though because the number went down to 125! No gestational diabetes for this gal :)

However I did leave with all good news. My iron levels are a little low so they want me to start taking an iron supplement. For iron I should be at 35 or higher and at my first appointment I was at a 39. Now I am at a 32, which is quite a drop. I do know that I am not eating as much red meat as before. It just doesn't taste as good and this is odd for me who has always been know as a meat eater. I don't eat many vegetables and I don't like any fruit so I would say I am a meat and potatoes kind of girl but not since I've been pregnant. I guess I need to start adding some back into my diet. Other than that the appointment was good and I was out of there in record time.

For a little note on Logan :) The Dr. said he is no longer breech so he is hanging out upside down and I hope he stays that way. I don't want to worry about going into labor and him being in the wrong position. He is getting much stronger and is quite active at night. I can actually see my belly move with the kicks. Each kick is very reassuring except now it freaks me out a little on the days he is more quiet but I know he is just getting plenty of rest.

Quick Update on the Nursery

We finished painting the nursery over the weekend! I am really happy with the way it turned out. Now of course there are some finishing touches, such as the rest of the furniture and it will look fantastic.

I have another appointment tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day I have to do the glucose test. Hopefully it comes back normal. I will post tomorrow with an update and new photos of Logan!

H1N1...You've Been On My Mind

Tomorrow I am getting the vaccine. I had been completely against getting it. I did not want to risk being a guinea pig for a vaccine that has still yet to be tested on pregnant women. Sure we are at the highest risk and sure they say it's safe but what can you trust. I also felt that the media was putting a lot of hype into the severity of the flu. However after having three kids in the kindergarten class be out for several weeks because they had the H1N1 flu and there being continued reports of pregnant women dying because of it I have decided getting the vaccine is worth the peace of mind that TBone and I will both be "safe". I would say this has been the most challenging and biggest decision I have made so far for the safety of my son and I pray that I am making the best decision for him and I.

Catch Up!

I am at 23 weeks now and I am pretty sure TBone is going through another growth spurt. I took belly pictures on Sunday and I am pretty sure I am already much bigger today than I was on Sunday. I also have had no energy this week which could either be the growth spurt or the time change...not sure actually.

The Mister and I had a fun weekend. We spent Friday night and pretty much all day Saturday in Auburn. We had the football game on Saturday morning to go to. It was my first game for the year (the Mister went to the Tenn/AU in Knoxville). We were not expecting to see an Auburn win but still looking forward to the tailgating and the game. Well those Auburn boys played their hearts out and pulled off a great win! It was such an exciting game with no stop action. The weather was decent but did sprinkle on us a couple of times...no big deal though.

Yesterday my bosses neighbor who is moving invited me over to go through their baby things that they are getting rid of to see if I wanted anything. He said anything and everything was up for grabs and if I didn't take it then it was going to someone else or would be tossed by Saturday. So we loaded my car up with tons of boxes. Mostly clothes (from newborn to 12 months) but he also gave me two Baby Bjorn carriers and I was pleasantly surprised last night when going through the boxes and found a breast pump. Well at first I wasn't too excited b/c most pumps aren't meant to be used by multiple users but then I noticed it was a Medela Symphony which is one that is actually okay for multiple users and is actually a really great and expensive pump. However it is missing a very important part, the motor. So I called him today about it and he at first was thinking I didn't want it and was telling me I could just toss it or donate it. I was like oh no I would love to use it except it's missing the motor. He is looking for it...fingers crossed he finds it.

This weekend the Mister and I are going to finish painting in the nursery. That will be nice to be finished with; however I think after that I want to paint our master bath :) We'll see though.

Wow...22 Weeks!

This pregnancy is flying by. I still feel great and I am sleeping better than I was a couple of weeks ago. I am also feeling TBone move daily now. He is especially active when I am taking a bath, hopefully it's not because I am frying him. He can hear outside noises now. He is also about a foot long and could weight almost a whole pound now. From my home scale I have only gained 7 lbs but from my appointment a couple weeks ago they had it more at 9 but either way I am gaining at a normal pace. I still can't believe that by the end I will have gained between 25-35 lbs, wow!

The Mister and I got the light blue on the nursery walls this weekend and I think it looks fabulous and once it's done it will look even better. I still have an orange and navy blue stripe to add. Here is a picture of the newly painted nursery and a picture of what the stripe will kind of look like.

Here's a new belly picture too since I haven't posted one in awhile. Exactly 22 Weeks and growing. Oh and DH noticed a dark line under my belly button today, I of course can't see it unless I look really closely in the mirror and it is still pretty light. This is called a linea negra and it's just a dark line some pregnant women get but it does go away a couple months after the baby is born.

More Exciting News!

The Mister and I are very excited that his parents are moving to town. This has been in the works for sometime now but they have now found a house and if all goes well they will be in Atlanta by November 19th! We are so excited about having them closer and they are just as excited about being close to us, the Mister's brother, the soon to be sister-in-law and of course Logan.

It's going to be so nice to have them close and when I mean close they will be about a 3 min drive from us. Before the Mister and I moved to Atlanta we all lived in Chattanooga and it was nice to see them at the drop of the hat and have dinner with them whenever. It will also be nice for Logan to have grandparents near by.

The Beginnings of a Nursery

So I have really wanted to post about this since the weekend and all week but I haven't had a second to stop and put it on words. The Mister and I had such a busy and great weekend. We went to Ikea on Friday and bought the crib and mattress. We put it together last night. It is small and not very extravagant but I love it and it will do it's job I'm sure. I just really didn't see the point of spending a lot of money on a crib. This crib will eventually convert into a small toddler bed also so we will be able to get a good amount of use out of it.

Then on Saturday we got up early and went to several yard sales that were happening in the neighborhood. We got some great wooden toys and a wooden table and chairs set. We spent the rest of the weekend cleaning out the nursery and converting the guest room into the guest room/office. At first we were thinking it was going to be pretty crowded but everything fits and actually looks pretty good.

I was really impressed that we were able to get so much done. Now I just have to pick out a paint color.

A Boy, A Healthy Baby Boy!!

Well since I didn't have time the other day I wanted add another post about the great day Friday turned out to be. The Mister and I are so so excited about having a boy and even more excited that the little guy is healthy and growing and very active. I was so nervous before the appointment because I still don't really think I am feeling any movement, so to see him moving around was such a wonderful sight! I also got to hear the heartbeat for the very first time and it was so strong and fast. The ultrasound lasted about 40 minutes and they went over all the body parts so I saw the brain, the heart, fingers and toes, two kidneys and the spine. Everything looked great at least from what I could tell. Since the Mister couldn't make the appointment I asked if they would put the gender results into an envelope that we would open together later. So when that time came she had me close my eyes and took a picture. When I left the hospital I called the Mister to let him know how the appointment went and he couldn't wait so he had me open it. And there was a great ultrasound picture of a little boy!

That night we went to Birmingham and I went to Sip n Strokes with Stephanie (you should check out her blog - she has great recipes) and we painted Aubie the Auburn Tiger. My Aubie will go in my son's room! I was so excited to be able to paint something for his room. I think it looks pretty good. The next day the Mister and I also bought the little guy his first clothing item, two Auburn onesies :) Can you tell we are Auburn fans!?

Snakes and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails

This is just a quick update on the ultrasound yesterday. It went really well and TBone looks healthy and I heard the heartbeat and it was nice and strong. We were also informed that we are having a boy!! We are very excited!

I know this is short but we are in Birmingham however I did want to get this update on here. I will post more about it hopefully tomorrow.

Okay...I am a blog slacker

I hate missing my weekly updates but I have plenty of excuses :) Really week 18 wasn't that exciting and week 19 will be very much the same but still the baby is changing constantly. The baby is really moving around in there, however I am not entirely sure I am feeling any of those movements yet. Sometimes I think maybe I felt something or was that the baby? but I convince myself it couldn't have been. Most women describe it feeling like a gas bubble but it doesn't seem like a very good description for us who haven't felt that yet well besides it actually being a gas bubble.

So why have I been missing? Well I am really into the middle of the semester and I have a ton of projects to do. I usually have several things due a week and these are usually really large assignments that use some creativity and lots of time. I also started my Kindergarten placement last week and I am loving it. I love the 5 year olds and there is some more structure instead of just constant play time like in Pre-K. I am actually in a private school and there are only 12 students in my class. It's going to provide a great opportunity for me to learn and have some really good experience. This week I already have two lesson I have to do. Busy, busy, busy.

I am also trying to read more pregnancy books. Right now I am working on "From the Hips" and "the Modern Girl's Guide to Motherhood". I really like them both, full of wonderful information.

This past weekend I spent Saturday in Chattanooga, while the Mister went to the AU v. TN game in Knoxville. I had a great time hanging with my best girl Jen! We chatted, had Mexican for dinner, made cookies, had a fire going in the fire pit, and watched a movie. It was a great afternoon and night!

Friday is the big reveal!!! and we are also going to Birmingham. The Mister's cousin, Amber, is getting married on Saturday. We will stay with his other cousins, Stephanie and Tadd, Friday night. Steph and I are going to Sip n Strokes!! and the Mister and Tadd are going to the Widespread Panic concert. It is going to be another great weekend!

So that's all I have at the moment. My next post will be an update on whether our TBone is going to be a boy or a girl. Keep your fingers crossed that the little one cooperates for us.

Oh one more thing...the Mister started a new job today! I am really excited for him. It gets him more in line with what he really wants to be doing. I really think he is going to be great at it and will provide enough challenge for him. It's a smaller company and I think it will be a good fit for him too. He is happy and excited about it so that makes it even better!

Okay, now I am really finished.

How TBone got this nickname...

So I found a partial clip of the Seinfeld episode - "The Maid" - where George really wants the nickname TBone. I thought I would share it with you all so you have an idea of why we are calling this little one TBone. No worries we have not decided that this will be the official name. This is one of the Mister's favorite Seinfeld episodes.

17 Weeks Has Come and Almost Gone

I can't believe that this week is almost over. I really don't have much news on the baby front. I am hoping to start feeling some movement soon. TBone is the size of an onion now or the size of most face wash tubes. Yes I am trying to find things that make a little bit more sense to me.

I am finding that I am really enjoying being pregnant. I am so thankful that things have been actually pretty easy for me - though I still have another half to come. I am loving the curves too and not having to worry about having that flat stomach.

I am just so excited for October 9th to get here quickly. I am ready to find out what the baby is and just making this even more real for the Mister and I.

Well I really don't have much else. The sun is shining today and it is beautiful out! I also want to wish my mom a Happy Birthday!!

Rain...Are You Ever Going To Go Away

Don't get me wrong I am thrilled that we are no longer in a very serious drought, actually we aren't in a drought at all now. We had a very unusually raining summer and it looks like the fall could be the same. It has rained for days now, I'm not sure how long really but I do know that I haven't seen the sun in awhile. It has been so gloomy. I used to love the rain. It Kansas it seemed liked it would come and then leave quickly. Maybe I don't remember things correctly but I don't remember rain for days and days.

Then yesterday we had plans to go to the Auburn football game well at least go tailgate and then go sit at a house and watch the game. The chance of rain was 50% - 60% but we were okay with that and were going to have fun anyways. The car was packed, the food and beer (not for me) was in the cooler and we were on our way. We left Atlanta and it was pouring! We got onto the interstate and not 5 minutes from our house we were slowing down. Fortunately that went quickly and was just a stalled car. So we kept on going. Oh but then we hit more traffic and we were at an almost complete stop. We made it 20 miles from our house in an hour and this was with a detour that we took that was suppose to be quicker, however it was also backed up because the road was so flooded. Needless to say we decided that maybe it wasn't meant to be and we turned around, eventually, and went back home.

Of course it ended up being very nice in Auburn for the tailgating and we would have been cozy and comfortable in a house when they finally had their downpour. We were pretty bummed but had our own tailgating party here at home and still enjoyed watching the game, which was a great one I might add. War Eagle!

I don't think the rain is going to be moving on any time soon either. From what the paper said yesterday, "Rain in the Forecast Forever". it could be here for....well, forever. Yes seriously it said that there was rain in the forecast forever. The weather channel says at least 4-5 more days anyways. Ugh.

October 9th will be a big day!

The ultrasound has been scheduled and in three weeks we will officially know whether TBone is a boy or a girl!

It's Another Wonderful Week...16 Now

Okay well I am closer to Week 17 now but I figure I will still give everyone an update. Especially today since I got to see TBone today! We are both doing wonderful and TBone was pretty active today. I did get stuck though by a needle. I wasn't going to get the flu shot but since I am in the schools two days a week around little kids I thought it would be best to go ahead and get it. I hope I don't regret it. The appointment was very short and sweet again. And I didn't have to wait as long! I scheduled my next appointment to see my Dr. for 4 weeks and tomorrow I have to call and schedule the big ultrasound when we will find out the sex. I don't actually get this done with my Dr. but somewhere else where they will do a 3D Ultrasound so I will really have a good picture of the baby.

I also made sure to find out exactly where I was for weight gain. I know it's not that important but I do want to be conscious of what I am gaining. So I started at 138 and today I was at 143. I also am not sure how soon the belly button pops out but mine is not as much of an "inny" as it was.

TBone is the size of a large avocado. The eyebrows, hair and eye lashes are also filling in and the taste buds are forming. I can't wait until I can actually feel the little kicks and punches. It could be any day now even though I am thinking it could still be a few weeks. The weeks go by so quickly though and I can't believe we are almost half way there. I told this to the Mister the other day and I think he was a little shocked. I can't imagine how unreal this is still probably to him. I am sure once he knows the sex and can feel the baby move things will really seem real. I guess even some days I'm not sure if I think it's all that real.

So even though it's not a great picture here is our little TBone. It's a profile of the face and if you look closely you can see the nose and an ear. Notice this baby has a large head, well still pretty small considering the he is just the size of an avocado :)

Labor Day Weekend

I went to Kansas for the weekend to spend with my family and I got to meet my new niece (my only niece) for the first time also. It was a great time and I always enjoy seeing my family and getting to spend time with them even if it isn't for a very long time period.

The great part was seeing Kynslee and she was so precious! She was almost 6 weeks old and still spent most of the time sleeping. There were a few minutes of awake time though. She was so tiny and had the longest arms and legs. My brother is really good with her and she is definitely a very loved little lady. My mom always seemed to be the type who would of course love being a grandma but not really the grandmother type whose life revolves around the grand kids. However now that she is a grandma she really wants to get in as much grand baby time she can get. It's so sweet and it's going to be a lot of fun to have two cousins so close in age.

I have lots of pictures and I am not going to bore you all with too many but here are some of my very adorable niece.

Week 14 and Week 15

Yes I have been quite the slacker with my blogging and I apologize. School has started back up for me and I have been extremely busy. I knew the semester was going to be time consuming I just didn't anticipate how time consuming. Because of this I missed posting about week 14. School is going great though and I spend 2 days in a Pre-K classroom which I am really enjoying. I do know thought that Pre-K is not what I want to be teaching but spending 6 weeks there isn't too bad. The next 6 weeks I will be in a Kindergarten class for 2 days. I don't expect there to be as much play time as there is in Pre-K. I am also taking 4 classes and between them all I have about 30 some projects that will be due this semester. So this is my excuse for not getting on here earlier.

Now from week 14 to week 15 TBone has grown from the size of a lemon to the size of an orange, approximately 4 inches long and 2.5 ounces. TBone's legs are longer than the arms now and he is moving around quite a bit. Unfortunately I haven't felt any movement but it could happen any time now. Oh and TBone is actually urinating inside me by now. How crazy is that? I just think that is crazy and pretty funny.

TBone has his first flight this last weekend to Kansas and he did amazingly well. None of the other passengers could complain about this little one, he was perfect :) (I will post another blog about my trip to Kansas). I had a little bump to show the family but the next time they see me at Christmas I probably actually be looking pregnant and not just like I have been eating way too much. From the scale it appears that I have gained 2-3lbs now.

Today I started cleaning up the guest room to make room for the office equipment that will be moving in there. I am really ready to start decorating the nursery but definitely have some clean out to do before I can get there. I figure the 2 trimester is the best time for this since supposedly the 3rd trimester the fatigue kicks back into high gear.

Well until next time.

Second Trimester!

So this week marked a new milestone...I am officially in the 2nd Trimester at 13 weeks! TBone is now the size of a peach. I'm not sure why the website I get this information from needs to compare the baby to a fruit every week. Anyways TBone is no longer an embryo but is actually a fetus. He also has eyelids and could also be sucking his thumb. I feel so good right now if it wasn't for my pants getting smaller, okay maybe it's that my belly is getting bigger (which you will see below), I wouldn't even know I was pregnant. I have my energy back and I have to say that really my 1st trimester wasn't too bad. It could have been much worse. I am looking forward to the 2nd trimester because as I have heard it is suppose to be the best trimester of your pregnancy.

I have also become much more open about telling people that I am pregnant. Even though I still don't really like the attention I am enjoying telling people the news. I have noticed that
when people ask how far along I am I answer in weeks and today I realized maybe I should respond in months since most people associate pregnancy in months and not weeks. I know before I was pregnant I would have had no idea what 13 weeks meant. Well that was a little randomness.

So since I really noticed a difference in my belly yesterday I thought I could post a new belly picture. I really hope this growing belly slows down some and I'm not sure how it has gotten so large and according to my calculations I have only gained 2 pounds.

A Wonderful 12 Week Appointment

Today was my 12 week appointment and everything was great. I wasn't there for very long, well the actual appointment didn't take very long. The Dr. saw me for probably a total of 10 mins. He did another ultrasound and we saw the heartbeat and I just couldn't believe how much bigger the baby is. We also discussed that the Mister and I will have a decision to make for the next appointment on whether or not we want to have genetic testing done for Down's. I am not sure how necessary it is but I think the Mister might feel differently.

I have still been feeling really well and since the 2 Trimester begins next week it looks like I got passed the 1 trimester without feeling to terribly bad. TBone is about 3 inches big right now and is about the size of a plum. All the vital organs have formed now also.
Since I really don't have much other news I will post the ultrasound picture I got today. The picture is not very clear but the head is on the left.

Celebrating Our Anniversary in Charleston

The Mister and I celebrated our 4th Anniversary on August 13th! To celebrate we decided to take a weekend trip to Charleston, SC. It was a great trip and I fell in love with Charleston! It was really a very relaxing trip.

We arrived on Friday afternoon and spent the day walking around the historic district and then had a delicious dinner at High Cotton. On Saturday morning we went to the Magnolia Plantation, which was just beautiful. Then spent the afternoon at Folly Beach. This was my first viewing of the Atlantic Ocean. I couldn't believe all the people. It was so different from the beaches at PCB where everyone is really spread out. We had another wonderful dinner, this time at Magnolia's. We had a wonderful time and it was a great way to celebrate our anniversary.

If you would like to look through the pictures, here is the link: http://gallery.me.com/ashleylevan/100350
However I am warning you that there are 310 pictures. I get a little carried away and I don't like to delete any that turned out.

Also on baby related news, I am now in the 12th week and have my second appointment tomorrow so I will actually post more of an update on this tomorrow.

Missed Week 9...On to Week 10

I have been a complete slacker. I am really quiet sorry about that and promise to try harder next time to stay up to date. I have been extremely exhausted and with finishing classes for the summer I have pretty much been doing nothing. Well except for still working three days of the week. I only get two more weeks of this luxury and then it is back to school full time.

I feel great though. I am so thrilled that I have made it through almost all of the first trimester without an real problems. I really can't complain. I appreciate T-Bone's ability to keep me sickness free...not sure how much he really has to do with it though. But I love him for it anyways.

We have made it to week 10 and T-Bone is now the size of a prune or a walnut which everyou prefer. He is almost an inch and a half long and weights .18oz. Still so tiny! The bones and cartilage is starting to form and the vital organs are beginning to function. The arm joints are also now working. Last week T-Bone grew his little fingers and toes. He is a very miniature baby now! Well almost. I am also not as worried anymore. Now don't get me wrong I am still worried just not as much. My next appointment is still two weeks away and I am really looking forward to it.

Since I have had a couple requests for the belly pictures I figured there is probably enough difference to go ahead and post a couple. Although I haven't gained any weight yet!! my pants are tighter, actually much and I have resorted to using the rubber band trick for a few pairs of jeans. **Stephanie you are not allowed to make fun :-)

This was Week 5!

This is Week 10!

Week 8, Our Weekend, and Some Great News!

I really do have other things I need to post about but barely have the energy to post about anything so this is all you get today.

I am now in Week 8 and that is amazing in itself but really there isn't much news to post about this week. Besides being just extremely tired I feel pretty good. T-Bone is now the size of a kidney bean or a little bigger than a dime. The nose, ears and a mouth are forming. His toes and fingers are also starting to grow also.

The Mister and I were doing really well getting up in the mornings and running before I got pregnant but now we have really been slacking. I need that extra 30 mins in the morning :-) So this weekend we decided to get our butts in gear and get some exercise. We have never been to Stone Mountain (this is a huge granite rock in Georgia that is now a a national park) so thought this would be a great place to go and the weather was beautiful. On Saturday we hiked all the way up the mountain. It was a mile one way - this may sound easy but this was a steep climb, a very steep climb. It was quite beautiful up on the top and the view of downtown Atlanta was amazing. Of course I did take my camera. We enjoyed ourselves so much we got an annual parking pass. Then Sunday came along and we decided we would go back to Stone Mountain and do one of the actual trails. The one trail we did was 3/4 of a mile and then we did part of a 5 mile trail also but not exactly sure how much of this one. Dusty and Dakota got to go on this trip with us! I did get some pictures on Sunday and will have to post those once I get them on the computer.

So we had a pretty good weekend and it was good that I got some exercise. I haven't gained any weight yet even though I can definitely see a difference in my stomach. My pants are also feeling tighter.

Okay one more thing - I guess I have decided to put everything in this post (keep having to add to the title) :-)

So in May I had to do an interview, application and essay to get accepted into the College of Education for my Early Childhood Education degree. Well on Thursday I got my Acceptance Letter!! It is such a huge relief and I am just so excited to start in August! It is going to be a busy two years for me but I am looking forward to all of it, well besides the tests I will have in my classes.

Okay that's all. And I promise to do my award post by the end of the week. I already know the first one ;-)

7 weeks and 1st Appointment

Sorry that my posts have become a rare weekly occurrence. I was even given an award from the wonderful pinkflipflops. I really need to post my thread for that. But my excuses are that I have been extremely busy with school. This is my last week for the summer classes and next week are finals so of course everything has been due this week.

But the news I am really excited about sharing is about our little T-Bone! He is now 7w4d is perfect! Today we had our first appointment and ultrasound. I am really going to like the Dr except I may have to get use to being there for many hours at a time...like 3-4. Yes the disadvantage of going to a one-man office is that since he sees all his patients he can get a little behind. While we were there a pregnant lady came in with an emergency. They actually ended up admitting her into the hospital. So you can't really be that upset about waiting. It's nice to know that if it were you that you would be taken care of.

The first thing was to have a pregnancy test done and thankfully I wasn't imagining things and I am actually pregnant. Then they took 4 vials of blood...ugh! We met with a med student first who took just some basic information. Then we were finally able to visit with the Dr. I really didn't have many questions so we got on to the fun things. I had an audience for the exam. The mister was there, the Dr, and then 3 med students. They of course asked if I was okay with it and I had no problem with it. I found out that I am hyper-reflexive...they seemed pretty impressed by this :)

Sorry to bore you with those details...just don't want to forget anything. Now to the fun part...the ultrasound. First we saw my very full bladder, thanks Doc for pushing so hard on my stomach during the exam :) Then the yolk sac appeared and I saw no baby so I think my heart stopped for a moment, but then there it was. Right away you could see the heartbeat just flickering away! It was the most amazing thing ever! T-Bone was looking right at us so you can see the little black spots where the eyes are. T-Bone is also right on target for the the due date of Feb 27, 2010...which is the date I had already figured. Of course this doesn't mean a whole lot.

After the appointment the Mister and I grabbed some lunch and then dropped him back off at work. My boss was nice and gave me the rest of the day off or I guess I really only had an hour and a half left of my work day if I had gone back. But that was still nice of him.

So not what you have all been waiting for...the beautiful T-Bone! Just to help direct you in what you are looking at...the baby is on the right and the head is on top. T-Bone is looking right at you so those little black spots on the head are his eyes.

4th of July Festivities and 6 Weeks!

I was going to do two different posts but I just have the energy to do one. I didn't really understand this whole idea of fatigue during the 1T but let me tell you, I do know. I feel like I could constantly take a nap. Of course there is no time for that and I am afraid that if I go to bed right now I will be up at 3:00am. Because besides being extremely tired I am not sleeping very well. However I am so grateful to be pregnant that I will take exhaustion any day.

Sunday we hit the 6 week mark! We are half way through the 1T! I can't wait to be past this stage, mostly because the chances of miscarriage diminish by a ton once you are in 2T. Little T-Bone has tripled in size and is now as big as a pea. He has eyes now and is growing his other facial features like a nose. Yes I am calling TBone a he, this is just a gut feeling I have and of course may mean nothing but I am going with it for now. The Mister of course is praying that TBone is a boy. His mom on the other hand, refers to the baby as a she. Besides being tired I am also constipated, have lots of gas and feel like I could throw up at certain times during the day. Sorry if that was a little TMI. Other than all of that I am feeling great...appreciate every day that I am pregnant!

We had a wonderful 4th of July also! We left on Thursday night for Florida and came back on Monday. It was a great break and I was able to get in lots of naps! It was very hot so we didn't do a whole lot, mostly spent all of our time in the pool. Unfortunately when we got back I had a paper that was due today and of course I hadn't started on.

This is all I have for tonight! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend too!

Really....A Baby?!?!?!

I can't believe it! Just when you least expect it and start to think it is going to be a long road, you wind up pregnant. Okay I understand this doesn't happen for everyone. However this month it did happen...for us!!

That's right...we are expecting!! I really apologize for going missing but I didn't want to post anything else besides this and I had to wait until at least tell my family knew before I could tell the internet world. The Mister and I are so excited...and shocked!! But mostly just excited! I am 5 weeks and 4 days. I know it's early but I want to remember every moment!

We found out two Saturdays ago, the day before Father's Day! I wasn't expecting to see a positive come up on the stick but thought I better test anyways because we were going to the lake and auntflo still hadn't shown up. The Mister actually went to the store and bought the pregnancy test for me so I could finish getting our stuff together for the lake. We both just stood there in disbelief. Especially the Mister...he kept saying we needed to wait the full two minutes because what if it wasn't right. I said you don't get a positive and then it disappear but he had to be certain. So we waited and then finally he looked at me and said "You're Pregnant!"

We told his parents on Father's Day when they came down to visit. Then I sent my parents and grandparents cards and a poem. Everyone is really excited. I still don't believe it most days but it is sinking in a little more each day. Especially now that I am constipated, a little nauseous (started today), and extremely tired. Sounds great doesn't it...well actually it is...it helps me know that the little bean is snuggling in for awhile.

So right now at 5 weeks, the baby is no bigger than a raisin, has a heartbeat and the vocal cords are forming! Pretty amazing!

Well I don't want to completely bore you with all of this so I will save the rest for later.

Alone...In A Good Way

I love the Mister...very very much and really enjoy spending time with him; but just every now and then I really enjoy a night at home alone. Tonight is my night alone! The Mister went to go see a movie tonight with a buddy and I have had all this time to myself. It's not like I do a whole lot or anything special. It's just time I get to spend doing what I want to do :-)

So what is it I do? Well I catch up on my stories...yes I record every single episode of All My Children. I only get to watch them when the Mister is not around...he isn't a big fan, I don't know why ;-). I have been watching this show since 6th grade, my babysitter got me hooked. I also sit in the Mister's chair. Yes he has his own chair, don't all husbands? He loves his chair and I do too, just don't get to sit in it very often. I eat whatever I want, really that means I get to have popcorn for dinner! And I have also spent the entire night on the web.

I love these nights...I don't need them often just a few times a month. Do you all enjoy nights without the husband and the kids to hang out at home in peace?

**Oh and by the way we are still getting up every morning for our run. We started week two again because we just weren't quite ready to move to week three, but we will be!

Old Friends

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile...I have been so busy. I hate to think that I am a lazy blogger and really don't want to go this long without an update. So first I will tell you that I had a great time in Kansas at my friends wedding! It was so good seeing all of my old friends and catching up with them even if it was brief. The bride was stunning and the wedding was beautiful. I had a blast at the reception and then it was all over.

This wedding really got me thinking about my old friends and how much they meant to me and know we only have a past together and no real present. It makes me sad to think that I have lost touch with all of these girls...and when I say "all" I mean 7 really good friends. There was MK, MF, AF, LB, LRB, and JF. JF was my best friend from elementary to junior high and then part of high school. We both went our separate ways around our freshman and sophomore year but reconnected towards the end of high school and even took a trip together in between our freshman and sophomore year of college. Promising to do this every year no matter where we were. Of course that was our only trip and really the last time I talked to her. The trip was wonderful...not the reason we no longer talked. We were both very different at the time and had gone in very different directions but now I feel like we could actually be close again but I don't know how. How do you reconnect with someone when you don't live near one another?

I have seen most of the other girls within the past year and I would say I am still relatively close to them even though I definitely don't keep up with them like I should. I just think it is kind of sad that these girls who were so important to me at one time in my life (for many years) are now just friends that I see or talk to once a year. I do believe you have different friends for different times in your life but most of those girls are still great friends and see each other all the time. I know it has a lot to do with them all being in the same city and me being 4 states away does make a difference. I guess I am little envious that out of the 7, 5 of them are all still really close and I felt a little like the odd man out while I was there this weekend.

I was so happy to see all of them but at the same time very sad that I have grown so far apart from them all. Do you still keep in touch with old friends? Are you as close to them as you once were?
Here is a picture of all of us together!

I'm going to...

Kansas City, Kansas City here I come...They got some crazy little women there and I'm a gonna get me one!

I tell ya, I am constantly singing! No really I am going to KC this weekend and I am so excited about it! One of my dear friends from high school is getting married! I am leaving tonight and being picked up at the airport to go straight to the rehearsal dinner. It should be a blast. I don't get to see my friends from back home very often...but this weekend we will all be back together! The mister is staying home and even though he will be missed I am excited about hanging with just the girls!

On other news Tuesday and Thursdays are really going to suck for the next 5 weeks! I am not a big fan of these 3 hour classes and hanging out at school for 11 hours! It's brutal! Just 5 more weeks, 5 more weeks...I will get through this...

And I am still keeping up with my running! I am so proud of myself. I probably won't participate tomorrow morning but I will make up for it...promise.

Hope you all have a great weekend and I will catch back up with you on Sunday!

Hello Mr. Spider

Today is my first day back to school after my one month summer vacation. I am taking three classes this semester and I am here all day on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So today at 8:00am I arrive at my first class and it is CANCELLED! The professor doesn't have the key so she decides we won't have class today. 8:00...I was there at 8:00 for a class not to go back home! Fortunately I live close enough to campus that I went back home and came back to campus for my 12:00 class. Again CANCELLED!! This time the teacher is sick! I am not going back home this time and decide to spend my time surfing the web and catching up on message boards and blogs.

Okay here is where the spider comes in! As I am sitting there minding my own business from the corner of my eye I see something move across my phone and coming towards my arm. I look over and see a HUGE spider coming towards me. Keep in mind I am still at campus sitting in one of the buildings where there are other people sitting. I leap up out of my chair, throw my computer onto the chair next to me and yes I screamed!! As I was getting up the spider leaps towards me and I am positive that it has attached itself to me and I just can't see it. So for 5 minutes...okay maybe 30 seconds I am standing there frantically searching myself for this HUGE spider...I am not overreacting here, this spider was large! Then I spot it on the chair and take me sandal off and kill it! Of course at this time I remember that I am not alone and realize that there are about 6 people looking at me like I am so crazy woman.

No crazy lady here...just scared of spiders. "Sorry about that; there was a huge spider". No one seems to care though and precedes to smirk and giggle! No this is not how I usually react when I come into close vicinity with a spider; however this was not a ordinary encounter. I was extremely startled by this thing. I swear it was the size of a half dollar...that's a HUGE spider!

Needless to say it has been a somewhat interesting first day back and it's not even over yet!

Blind Side

My update on the extra experience. My friend Bethany and I did actually end up going to the movie set to be extras in the new Sandra Bullock movie. We had a blast! We got there at about 7:30pm and got ourselves checked in. There were a lot more people there than I was expected. They had us hang out for about 2 hours before they actually needed us. Finally around 11 they took us all done to the set. I don't even know how to explain it. We mostly sat there and every once in awhile they would give us some instruction on what to do. You just end up repeating the same scene over and over. I think the whole night they maybe shot 4 minutes of the entire movie. At 1:30am we had lunch. Yes, lunch! They had box lunches for everyone. After lunch they took most of the extras that were left across to the other side of the field. This is when we actually got out first look at the stars. Bethany and I finally decided to leave at 3:30 in the morning. After talking to everyone we quickly realized that the extras that were sticking around were all getting paid. I am pretty sure that all the free extras had already left (besides us). We met some really interesting people and would definitely do it again.

Here are a few pictures.

SJ - this is what they called Sandra when they needed her to do something. We figured it was SJ b/c she is married to Jesse James. We walked right past her when we were leaving.

The Set

Sandra (wearing white sweater) and Tim (right next to here in black jacket)

Okay I am going to have to work on adding pictures, but I wanted to get them up.

So today we are going to Chattanooga for my Mother in Law's 60th Birthday! Should be a pretty good time.

Extra Extra

Tonight I am hoping to be discovered! Okay I really don't think I will be discovered but I am planning on being an extra in a MOVIE! This isn't just any movie, it actually stars Sandra Bullock. That's huge! And Tim Mcgraw. The movie is Blind Side and it's about a high school football player. Anyways they are filming here in Atlanta and need extras for the crowd at the football game. And yes, yours truly is going to be there.

Okay I am sure you are starting to think that I am a huge nerd. Yes...I admit that I am a nerd and am so excited about this! They are going to be filming tonight and will continue until sunrise tomorrow morning. I can leave whenever, but I am thinking it would be really cool to hang out there all night! I have recruited my friend Bethany to go with me but if she decides to bail at the last minute the Mister said he would go. I think deep down he hopes she bails :-) The only thing that may not be much fun is sitting in 80 degree weather with a coat on, since the movie is taking place in the fall they want everyone to have a coat or hoodie on...hope I don't pass out!

Oh and on my quest to get in shape - I am on day 3 and still going strong, although my legs are a little stiff.

Randomness

I had a really good weekend. The weather was beautiful and the Mister and I had nothing going on. We got up early on Saturday and started on yard work. Mowing, killing weeds and even cleaned out the overflowing gutters (so glad the pollen is finally gone). The rest of the day we hung out on the deck and enjoyed the sun. The Sunday was very similar. We didn't have yard work but we got up early and got some shopping done. We were back home and on the deck early afternoon and I tried to catch some rays. I have a wedding I am going to in two weeks and I need some sun.

I also started reading the Kite Runner. I have had this book for awhile now but hadn't been in the mood. I wasn't really in the mood for it this weekend either. I was thinking chic lit would have been more appropriate. It is so good though, so far it hasn't exactly been a happy story, but it so real and emotional. I don't know how many times I cried during it and I am not even finished. I would highly recommend this book when you have some time and are prepared to feel some pain and heartache. I want to see the movie now but I am not sure it will be a great movie.

On Saturday night we watched the movie 7 pounds with Will Smith. Wow, what a heart breaker there too. I really enjoyed the movie and it really makes you think about what you would do in that situation. Would I be as selfless and he was? Would I give up everything for 7 random people? I don't know. I would like to think that I would be willing to give up something, but everything including my life. I don't want to give to much away in case you haven't seen it. I really enjoyed the movie. Oh and it even had the Mister in tears and that is not an easy thing to do.

I have one more update. So Saturday I was going to get up and start my running...well it didn't happen. It didn't happen on Saturday or on Sunday. But this morning the Mister and I got up early and we started the first day of our 8 week challenge. I am so pumped and glad we were able to commit this morning. I wasn't sure we would do it or not but we did!

Round

I did it...I stood on the stupid scale today and let me tell you it was not pretty. I am now about 20 lbs over weight. I am going to lay it out here and maybe my blog (readers) will keep me accountable.

I am in shape...but not the shape I want to be. I am now ROUND! How did this happen? No it is not the bag of popcorn I eat nightly...it can't be. The probably is my job...this damn job. My boss is so nice he takes us out to lunch EVERY day. Every day I am eating fried, fatty, greasy, rarely good for you food and lots of it. I have no control. I know when I get there I should order the salad, just order the salad. No instead I order the bacon cheese burger with fries and soda. It also doesn't help that I am completely sedentary all day.

Well I have to do something about this. I have always wanted to be one of those people you see out running. I have the schedule - it's an 8 week plan to get me running at a constant pace for 30 mins (2 miles). I can do this, I know I can do this. It's only 30 mins and it's not even every day. I realize that this is just a number and I wouldn't care so much about the number if I wasn't so ROUND. So tomorrow morning I will begin the journey of getting back to the correct shape.

Almost Day Off

That's what I am calling today and tomorrow...my almost day off from work. Yes besides just being an old college student I do hold down a job, not a hard job and not a job where I get paid very well but it is a job. I am an Admin/Office Manager for a 4 man IT company. This job is well....it's pretty easy but I do stay busy most days. Today and tomorrow the guys are gone. They are driving down to FL to set up one of the new guys we just brought on down there. Yes this 4 man gig has offices even in FL, I am not sure how they do it.

Well I love it when I have the office to myself. I will spend almost the entire day surfing the internet. I wouldn't love my job if this was an every day occurrence b/c there is only so much I am interested in on this vast internet, but a day every now and then is perfect. So even though I still have to be at the office (actually in my bosses house, so I can even get some tv watching in) I wouldn't really consider what I am doing today or tomorrow as work. However I am still holding things down and every now and then taking care of some business but mostly this is my almost day off! Perfect!
